Artist of The Week: Bertie Blackman

This actually from 2009 but I just love Bertie's music that she needs more recognition and I love Secrets & Lies. The album has a cross of Cocorosie's music arrangement and Bertie's husky's voice. You can really hear the depth of her voice in Sky is Falling and the heavy rock pop, Thump (which is my favorite!). I love of her voice is sounded un-forced and natural.

If you're up for something catchier with cool beats than you will love Birds of Prey, White Owl and Black Cats. Black Cats make a good song for the runaway. If you'd prefer something more on the pop side, go for tracks like Heart and Peek-a-Boo. All in all, this one of the best album i heard so far, whereby each of her tracks are different but at the same time it sticks in your head with amazing beats and music. Husky and Kookie really goes well together.
